Hawaii-Guide, my flagship site within my portfolio and company has been redesigned and restructured again for 2012. I left the older 2011 redesign of the site below as well, so comparing the two versions is easy. Why did I redsign the site again within less than a year? Simple, the site needed a better navigation structure and layout for new advertisers. So I went to work redesigning the layouts of the pages to optimize ad and content placement, in addtion to adding in new links to make it easier to access key pages throughout the site. I put the focus on the pages I really wanted my visitors to see, and let some of the older navigation (including drop downs - not mobile friendly) fade away
I used a good deal of new material for the redesign/restructure project, including new HTML5 throughout the site, CSS3, and the Modinizr javascript library along with Stylefix. Used a good bit of jQuery as well of course - *sidenote* man it's good to have left flash behind.
Hawaii-Guide now receives approximately 3,000 unique visitors daily as of early 2012.
