Personal Life
My personal life is practically as busy as my professional one. I find myself taking on a number of hobbies to keep by busy mind active, and usually this means I'm 'go-go-go' on a regular basis. I don't mind the pace, in fact, I quite enjoy it. As I've said elsewhere on this site, I try and follow my bliss. I'm a Web Developer and Entrepreneur. I love the great outdoors - hiking, photography, tropical landscaping, etc. I'm an avid, some might say obsessed, fan of the Hawaiian Islands and I try to visit annually if I can. No other place has touched me the way Hawaii has, and I've been to every state in the country (most of them twice or more).
Generally speaking, I am extremely interested in psychology and love learning just about anything related to the human mind. To say I'm inquisitive would be an understatement, I have a thirst for knowledge and constantly seek out new information on just about anything that interests me. I'm fascinated by puzzles and abstract concepts. I'm an analytical person who considers myself a realist. It's not that I don't enjoy dreaming big, but I tend to stay pretty grounded.
My busy mind also keeps me busy developing new projects - in the yard or online. The fine line between work and play is often blurred for me. What many might consider work, I consider fun. I've spent most of the last decade of my life building my businesses into something I am very proud of. I've worked hard, and I've been very fortunate to have the success I've had. In the ten years I've run my businesses, I've never had a year that ended in the red - I have always ended in the black. I have high hopes for my businesses in the future, and one day, I wouldn't mind making them my full time career. Many people joke with me that I have a habit of turning every one of my hobbies into some sort of business... but I say, "Do what you love and enjoy the most, and if you can make money doing it, you've found something to really hold on to."
I also have been blessed with the love of an amazing person - someone I can't ever imagine living without. I married Victoria C. Derrick on April 30, 2011 on the beautiful island of Kaua`i, Hawaii.
Victoria and I are also the proud pet-parents of several fids (fur and feathered kids). We own a variety of small birds and one Galah Cockatoo in addtion to our Golden Retriever. We reside in Lexington, SC.
