I was fortunate enough in my youth to be instilled with a strong work ethic and the foresight to know quiting never gets you anywhere. I'm driven by the persuit of knowledge and the concept that I can always learn a thing or two more, even about the topics I feel I know the most about. I pay attention to details, because I know it's the small things that count in the end. I stick to deadlines, because I know in the real world, procrastination isn't going to achieve anything. I know how to have fun and laugh, and it's rare for me not to be in my typical humerous mood. But I also know when to cut to the chase and be serious, and I think my background is proof of that.
I have a Bachelor of Science from the University of South Carolina, in Environmental Geography - hey, I wanted to explore all of my options and Geography was always a subject that fascinated me. I figured why not?
I have significant experience in web development and web programming. I am particularly well versed in the utilization and development of Expression Engine CMS. Currently I serve as the Director of Web Development for DuBose Web Group in Columbia, South Carolina. Prior to my current job I worked as the Director of Web Content at South Carolina Educational Television from 2007-2010. Prior to that I served as Webmaster for the Director of Maintenance Office at the South Carolina Department of Transportation, while also fulfilling the role of Web Coordinator for a collegiate club at USC. I also have considerable experience with my own personal online business ventures which I have been operating since 2001. I have gained important experience in E-Commerce, Management, and Communication skills through all of these venues and I, of course, continue to enjoy learning more daily.
All said and done, I have a total of 12 years experience in web development, eight of which were spent professionally developing websites for SC State Government. During these years I gained extensive experience in graphic design using the Adobe Web CS Suite, regularly prepared prototypes, and gained extensive knowledge on cross browser platforms and compatibility via the web. I am fluent in XHTML, CSS, and have extensive experience with Javascript/JQuery. I am still studying and learning HTML5 and CSS3, both of which I enjoy using regularly now, including on this site. I have also worked regularly with both PHP and mySQL in addition to the vast array of Content Management Systems utilizing these technologies; in particular Expression Engine is my CMS of choice and I have five years of experience with that software.
